Welcome

H.A.T.S.- Off to you for visiting our web site!

What is H.A.T.S.?

H.A.T.S. stands for 'Horse Alternative Therapeutic Services.' H.A.T.S. is a non-profit, charitable organization which uses the unique bond between horses and humans as a tool for personal growth and development.

Our Vision Statement H.A.T.S. is a program dedicated to the creation of a centre of excellence where horses and other therapies ( I.e.: music, art, horticulture, pets, drama, etc.) will be used as tools to promote mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellness in children, youth, adults, families and community groups in the Niagara Region.

Our Mission Statement:

HATS has a dual mission, each dedicated to providing outstanding programs utilizing horses and other therapeutic approaches to enhance the physical and/or emotional health and quality of life of children and adults. The first 'HAT'provides therapeutic riding for individuals with special needs and the second 'HAT', based on the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) model, seeks to empower individuals through an experiential process of self discovery that builds on an individual's innate strengths.

Helmets and Stetsons: The Two Hats of H.A.T.S.

As you can see from our logo, our organization wears two types of hats - riding helmets and stetsons. The hats symbolize our two main programs, therapeutic riding for the disabled, and equine-assisted growth and learning (EAGAL).

Helmets and Therapeutic Riding: All participants in a therapeutic riding session must wear a hard hat for safety reasons. These essential pieces of riding equipment make an appropriate icon for our therapeutic riding programs.

Stetsons and EAGAL: Both the stetson and equine-assisted growth and learning (EAGAL) come from the west, so they form a natural partnership in our logo.
